Snow storm of '77
« on: December 15, 2012, 07:26:19 PM »
I remember the big storm we had the government indoctrination centers   for youth, I mean schools closed for almost a month and a lot of folks went more than a wee bit hungry. My folks got a chewing out from my grandmother when her favorite grandson (me) went and told her we were out of food (my folks were waiting for "emergency relief" even back in the 70's) I decided I was not going to experience that again. I began learning to can, dry, store food. looked into freeze dried stuff and spent my own money on supplies when the storm of 83 blew into town we were much better off than the neighbors. Grandmother gave me canning lessons and educated me about the importance of being able to take care of myself.
