When I left the house to run my trap line about 6:30 this morning I noticed the light in the kitchen was out and thought I'll need to take care of that when I get home. Then this afternoon when I pulled into the yard I saw my son's car parked next to the garage. It turned out that he had just brought my wife home from the emergency room.
Apparently about 8:00 this morning my wife climbed up on a chair to change the light bulbs, fell and broke both bones in her left arm just above the wrist. Monday I will need to take her to a specialist to get a hard cast and determine if she will need surgery. (In the X Ray, they do not appear to be "clean" breaks and the end of at least one bone looks like it may have splintered.) For the time being at least it appears I will be chief cook, bottle washer, dog wrangler, and designated driver along with my other duties.
Oh, I forgot to add, since my wife already had two black eyes and a bump on her forehead from falling over the dog and whacking her head on the cupboard last Sunday, the people in the emergency room questioned my son quite severely thinking I was a potential wife beater. Fortunately my daughter and her husband along with my son and his wife were all here when she took her first spill and he was able to assure them that his dad had nothing to do with either accident.
