For eleven years I lived on Lake Ontario near Barker (Niagara County) before moving to the Adirondacks.  Still have lots of relatives out that way.

Actually, I do have a soft spot for Rochester.  In April of 2009 my son and I were on a fishing charter out of Irondiquoit (Sp?) when I had my last heart attack.  If it was not for quick thinking by the captain, an emergency squad meeting us at a break wall and a pair of great doctors at Rochester General I would not be around today.

Me, too.  I was driving from Cape Cod to Indiana back in the day, and got caught in a blizzard there.  I was stuck for three days, but I had a very enjoyable time.  I had a similar experience in Salt Lake City.  Frankly, if you have to be caught in a blizzard, Rochester is a much better choice.

Irondequoit. Thats where my immediate family settled in.

Best thing about it is its a small city with tons of parks and surrounded by farmland so it retains a lot of its rural & outdoors spirit. Biking has really caught on so I think we're turning into a mini-Seattle maybe.

Hey Bill, did you have any Garbage Plates while you were here?  White hots? :D

Howdy, I'm not too far off. I live in Batavia. I grew up in Rochester and lived for years in Hamlin.

Welcome!  That's a cold part of the country - at least in the winter - you live in.  I got marooned in Rochester during a blizzard once upon a time!
